TL;DR - The newest LTS version of MySQL 9.7 is now Generally Available. This is a big milestone in the history of MySQL. MySQL 8.0 is officially EOL.
The hypergraph optimizer is now available in MySQL 9.7 Community Edition
TL;DR - Good example of Oracle pushing more developer-focused features into Community Edition. Hypergraph is the new query optimizer, developed for Heatwave analytics.

TL;DR - As part of Oracle’s re-engagement with the MySQL community, there is a 1-day contributor summit the day before Percona Live in Redwood Shores.
