Disclosure of Your Information
We may share your information in the following situations:
- Service Providers: We share your information with the companies that operate this website on our behalf. Each one is named under Sub-processors below.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
Our website links out to GitHub, for code and discussions, and to Discord, for community chat. Both have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Sub-processors
A sub-processor is a company that processes your information on our behalf, under our instructions. We use the following. Where an entry below says a provider records your visit, that means the pages you view, your device and browser, your referring website, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — DNS, content delivery, TLS, and protection against attacks and abuse for villagesql.com and its subdomains, including the
/blogand/docssections. All traffic to the site passes through Cloudflare, so it receives your IP address and request headers in order to route and protect that traffic. We do not use Cloudflare for analytics. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. - Mixpanel, Inc. (United States) — product analytics. Mixpanel records your visit, the actions you take on each page, and a replay of your session that captures your navigation and interactions. See the Mixpanel Privacy Policy.
- Google LLC (United States) — three services. Firebase serves the site's pages and files, and stores what you send through our contact form: your name, email address, company, subject, and message. Its request logs record your IP address, the time of your request, the page requested, and your browser. Google Analytics records your visit. Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces and receives your IP address when a page loads. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Ghost (Singapore) — hosts our blog at villagesql.com/blog and runs our email newsletter. If you subscribe, Ghost stores your email address and sends you the newsletter. Ghost records your visit to the blog. See the Ghost Privacy Policy.
Mixpanel and Google Analytics load only after you consent to analytics. Every other provider above is required to deliver the site or to answer you, so it cannot be switched off. We update this list when we add or remove a sub-processor.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small data files stored on your device. We use two kinds:
- Essential Cookies: Required for the website to function properly (e.g., theme preference)
- Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with our website
If you are in the European Union, we ask for your consent with a banner before any analytics cookie is set. You can change your answer at any time through the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of any page. Choosing Decline stops Mixpanel and Google Analytics loading on the pages you visit after that. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request access to your personal information
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt-out: Opt-out of marketing communications
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your information in a portable format
To exercise these rights, please contact us at privacy@villagesql.com.
Children's Privacy
Our website and services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
International Data Transfers
Our sub-processors operate in the United States and Singapore, so your information is transferred outside your own country, where data protection laws may differ. By using our website, you consent to such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above.
